Grow Food Secures $230K in Grants to Support Core Operations
Foundation: Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation
A Massachusetts nonprofit that delivers healthy food to low-income residents has received more than $230,000 in grants to bolster its operations.
The Point32Health Foundation, a joint venture of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation and Tufts Health Plan Foundation, has awarded Grow Food a three-year, $120,000 core operating support grant, while Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts' Health Justice Partnership & Grant Program has given the group more than $110,000 in funding and pro bono support to ensure the delivery of healthy food across the state, the Republican reports.
"We are humbled that these venerable health foundations see the crucial public health nature of the work we do to ensure that all members of our community, no matter their income level, have access to an abundance of nutrient-rich, culturally appropriate foods grown right here in the Connecticut River Valley," the organization's executive director said in a statement.
The grants will allow Grow Food to decide how to use its funds, the Republican reports.
